What Is Beyond Logic?

Beyond Logic is five 40 & 50-something guys with families and day jobs who enjoy performing music to a crowd. What makes this group different is the diverse range of personal musical preferences. “Musically, we’re all over the place as individuals,” says drummer, Bob Bussells. “But together, we make some nice music!”

You can see it in the set list... Classic rock, newer hits, even a little bit of disco... Beyond Logic plays something for every musical taste. Music that is performed by talented musicians that are doing this for the love of playing. Classic rock – Serious fun!

How did Beyond Logic evolve?

Well, the whole thing started when Paul (lead singer/guitar) called on some old friends to perform at a fundraiser for the Brandon Malstrom Foundation. It was an impromptu jam session where Paul called on some old friends and some new friends to get together to play at the local Irish pub. Most of us had not met or played with the others, but somehow the event turned out to be very successful. Michael, (bass) was playing in a group, as was Bob (drums). Paul (vocals/guitar) and Paul (keyboards/vocals) hadn’t played in a group in over twenty years. But the “one show only” performance ignited a fire in both of them that led to the origins of Beyond Logic. Bob and Michael joined, and then Paul (keyboards) called old friend Jeff (guitar/vocals) to ask about buying some equipment from him. Jeff was playing out in a duo, but was looking for the opportunity to join a full band. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Why Beyond Logic works!

We are all competent musicians. We all get along. And musically, the only rule is “we have to have fun playing.” Like any good band, Beyond Logic feeds off of the energy of the crowd. If we’re playing hard, and the crowd is into it, well… then we play even harder!

Beyond Logic can’t be labeled as a certain type of band. Paul Malstrom says, “We’re not a pure dance band, but we’re also not a concert band. We’re both. Our range is very diverse. And that’s the strength of our appeal as a band.”

“Beyond Logic” was supposed to be a name to reflect that it was “beyond logic,” for a group like ours to get together and do what we do. But our diversity is truly what keeps it fresh and challenging.
