Two great music influencers were the demons driving him to help form and play bass with Beyond Logic. The first was his mother, Christine. By his tenth birthday, Christine had given him “vinyl” albums of Wes Montgomery, Dave Brubeck, Ramsey Lewis and Jimi Hendrix. While he preferred Merv Griffin, Sonny & Cher, and later, the Monkees and The Partridge Family, the quality exposure she had provided was already imprinted. Now among others, Corea, Garcia, Phish, Zappa and Pastorius rule!
His second influence was the result of hearing a little known session of Marcel Marceau, recorded in Borneo, entitled Marcel Marceau – Live and A Cappella. “When I heard that album, I just knew I had to play bass,” Michael extolled. “The experiences speak for themselves.”
When Michael is not making good music with Beyond Logic, he can be found tuned anywhere to the left of 92 on your FM dial. |
