Jeff Wong (guitars, vocals) is the offspring of a mother who was a pianist
who studied at the Juilliard School of Music and a father who is as tone
deaf as they come. Jeff puts his musical talents somewhere between the
two. Major influences include Steve Howe (Yes), Rick Witkowski (Crack the
Sky), Buck Dharma (Blue Oyster Cult), and more recently Britney Spears.
Jeff has been playing music on and off professionally for over 25 years.
Throughout college and grad school he performed as a solo act playing
guitar and keyboards and singing in some of the finer restaurants and
seedier bars in North Carolina and Maryland. The lucrative business earned
him enough cold cash to finance possibly as much as 3 percent of his
college education at times. During the late 80’s and early nineties Jeff
hooked up with a number of classic rock acts which enjoyed moderate to no
success at all playing the Baltimore area. Eventually, he and bassist band
mate Paul Ely broke off and formed the rock duo Wong and Ely
which managed steady bookings in restaurants and clubs in Ellicott
City, Fells Point, Towson, and Edgewood for several years until recently
taking an extended break.
Jeff
comes to Beyond Logic after casual conversations with keyboardist Paul
Minch (whom he has known since high school and played music with briefly
in the past) somehow resulted in a place for him in the band’s lineup.
Jeff
says: “I am seriously excited to be a part of Beyond Logic. I’ve been
in a lot of different acts, but this one easily has the most diverse set
of talents I’ve had the pleasure of playing with. Everyone has different
musical influences and backgrounds, yet somehow we are able to put them
all together in a seamless blend. More importantly, I think we all
genuinely like each other!” |
